Bar Online Academy: Competency-Based Learning Program
This Competency-Based Learning Program has responded to the demands of inputs of knowledge, skills, and attitude you need to learn all throughout the years. It integrates information sheets with assessment through self-activities. It is designed to make your learning in bartending easy, fun and exciting.
The program is designed to help you achieve the required competency in knowing the different concepts in the bar, operating a bar, preparing and mixing cocktails and mocktails, and providing wine service. You are required to go through a series of information sheets in downloadable PDF format inorder to complete each of the learning objectives. In every module, references are available at the end of the information sheet to assist you. You are expected to answer the self-check after each module.
The learning matrix of this program comprises of four modules. MODULE I (Cleaning the Bar Area) which includes the different parts of the bar, and the most common bar tools and equipment. MODULE II (Operating the Bar) which discusses the duties and responsibilities of a bartender, and the workflow in the bar. MODULE III (Preparing and Mixing Cocktails and Mocktails) which talks about the different classifications of spirits, and the four mixing methods. MODULE IV (Providing Wine Service) which emphasizes on identifying the different types of wine, and food matching/ pairing of wine. The program duration is one month. You are required 3 hours per week for each module and you are required to answer each self-check (10 to 15 questions). Every self-check question utilizes multiple choice, identification, modified true or false, and matching type. You are given 3 attempts and should score 40 percent correct answers of each self-check before you continue on to the next module.
Upon completion of each module, you will receive Certificate of Completion. On the fifth week, you will then take a Post-test (75 items). You are given 2 attempts and should score 60 percent correct answers. Once you passed, you will receive Certificate of Completion indicating the completion of Module I, Module II, Module III, and Module IV from Bar Online Academy.

Resti Tito H. Villarino is a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Professional Teacher in the Philippines. He worked as a Cardiac Catheterization Nurse in Perpetual Succour Hospital, Cebu City, Philippines from 2009 - 2011. He finished Master of Arts in Education, Major in Teaching Biology at Cebu Technological University - Main Campus in 2015. Currently, he is a permanent faculty at Cebu Technological University - Moalboal Campus. He is the proprietor of Sulit Adventure, Bar Online Academy, and Emok's Bar. He finished Trainer's Methodology (TM I) at TESDA Region VII in Cebu City, Philippines. He holds National Certificate (NC) II in Bartending, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Services, and Housekeping.
